Losing Someone to Cancer

This is for anyone who has lost somone to cancer. I lost my adopted Mom to breast cancer some years ago. She was everything I could have asked for. She loved me because I was just me. She also loved my family and children as if they were her own.

I feel that way too Kathleen.  If it weren't for my son, I don't know that I'd still be walking around this planet.

As far as bills, go... Hospitals would rather have something than nothing. IF you can handle the bankruptcy, the go in that direction.  If not, set up a "payment" plan.  My Aunt who passed from the c a little over a month ago had it for 30 years, and she sent the hospital around $200-300 a month.  I know that a lot but not compared to destroying your credit rating.  Have you thought about "Go Fund Me?"  A friend from HS just got a surprise diagnosis of giant brain tumor.  His best friend put up a Go Fund Me and it's raised 30k in about a week.  Everything helps.  That's why I always tell people not to give to Komen or The American Cancer Society.  They aren't curing anything, and there's lots of folks on the payroll before the money goes to anyone who needs it.  I learned that in hindsight after having thousands donated after my wife passed.  If you reading this, I'm so sorry.  I know that the only folks on here are just like me, devastated by this horrible disease.  Please try and take care of yourselves.  Much love and light to all.

That is perfectly normal to vent, we have all been through it.
I lost both my parents too cancer last year, Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of 13, he had some treatment and surgery in sept of 13, doctor said all was good, so dad returned too work. Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in February of 14, she had surgery only in April, doctor said everything was successful and removed all of the cancer. Around the 20th of August mom went too the doctor and they said the cancer was throughout her whole body and they would start radiation. On the 28 of August dad was diagnosed with cancer again the doctor said he would live about a month with treatment.
Dad died on sept 25 2014, Mom had a stroke on October 21 2014 and died on November 4 2014. I lost both parents in 40 days.
So it's okay too vent we have an idea of the pain that you are going through.
I'll keep you and your mom in thoughts and prayers

Jo B - this site is fir venting or ranting - we have all experienced similar emotions at some point - some of us just verbalized more. We are imperfect people living in an imperfect world and life just isn't fair sometimes. God Bless!

Job- I am sorry about your mum's diagnosis. Cancer is not dicrinatory - nobody is immune. They have made many advances though so we can have some hope for our loved ones that are diagnosed and still with us. Hugs to you - I know it doesn't help much.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
