I understand Linda.  This has been ONE ENTIRE year without John.  He died 12/27/15.  I feel your pain.  There are no words to express how much John is missed.  God Bless our darling husbands.

I was just thinking the same thing.  I have been invited to a friends house tonight, but I have no urge to go.  I dont want to be the odd man out, I dont feel like being with anyone other than my kid tonight.  I just dont have the energy to ring in another year without my husband.  It just makes it all the more real that, here I go again, year 2 without him.

Yup, I agree shinginglight I will ring in the new year with my sweet dog Babie J.

It's like we're aliens, we don't understand the people who's never been through this and they don't understand us. People still said Merry Christmas to me and I know they'll say Happy New Year, it's actually insulting to hear that for me. It's like they're saying forget your wife, just be Merry and happy. I will never be genuinely happy again, my happiness died with my wife. I'll find it when we're united again.

AMEN!!!!

I thought that I was the only one who thinks as you do.  Happy New Year my ASS.  Merry Christmas my ASS too. I understand they mean well but it tears at my heart.  Just think for a few seconds before you break our hearts further.

Thank You, I too am living in hell, It's awful

Yes linda, I spent new years eve with my dog.   My husband and I usually stayed home for new tears.   That's right...no one to kiss at midnight! .... talked to a few friends today (new year's )....then I watched the Packers game!   I start a new year without  my "better half"!  I miss him very much.   I can't say this  enough:  whenever i have someone special in my life ,i need to let them know how much I appreciate them, before it is too late!   (Just a thought!!....but I need to remember it!!!)

Everyone,  have a blessed new year!

Hi Elyn,

I am so glad we have our dogs to love us, they can't replace our beloved Husbands, but they make are lives a little easier to bear.

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
