Suicide

hi. I lost my brother about 3-4 weeks ago. We believe it was suicide waiting on coroner's report. He struggled with suicide attempts for some years. He had mental illness issues and he struggled. I…Continue

Suicide....Hard Knowing Thay did it By Their Choice 2 Replies

Suicide is not a choice!  It is a desperate last option of someone who feels they can’t take any more pain.  I lost my best friend of 20+ years to suicide in 1989, I know the pain and it is hard to…Continue

I lost my best friend Chris to suicide 6 years ago.He was bipolar and a meth addict and he killed himself in the down of bipolar and meth. He shot himself in the chest. At first because I was angry I considered him selfish but at time has gone by in my most grief filled times I realize how much he hurt  and didn't let anyone including his dad know. I know he is in a emotionally pain free place now and that helps me deal with the pain of losing him.

I'd just like to say that I disagree with the thought (not that anyone here has expressed it but I have heard it so many times) that people who commit suicide are "selfish." They are not selfish, they are in overwhelming pain. What a terrible thing for anyone to tell someone who has lost a loved one to suicide! I lost a friend to suicide at the end of high school. He hanged himself when his girlfriend broke up with him. Nobody knew how unhappy he was. My brother had a friend who put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, as did someone I was very fond of. One of our cousins committed suicide after years of dealing with resistant depression. I myself fight with suicide ideation often.
I may see about changing my name on this profile so I can be more candid. Using my real name I feel somewhat self conscious even though no-one knows me.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
