Grief and Comfort do not have to be public

After my father in law passed away July 2010 I became personally aware that people truly had a tremendous need for comfort and a solid hope.  I find most people think that they have faith and hope but when they really need both there is a huge hole.  My husband, daughters, son, Mother in Law and extended family all reacted differently.  I never knew that there could be a physical reaction - I got so sick - it was like a virus for about 3 days...

When the final call came it was still a shock even though we had known for three months that this was going to happen. I guess we all were in denial. The pain has lessened for some while others are still in intermittent agony.  Our family has been shown so much love, that I decided at the beginning of 2011 I would do all I could to encourage Bible reading since it is my belief that God really cares for us and will help us through ALL life's trials.

This year of 2011 I have spent trying to "Pay Forward" all the love that was and still is shone my family to my community and on line support groups. I have observed how helpful these public groups are because there is an opportunity to "talk".  Occasionally however, some read but won't say much because their comments are so public.

That is why I have decided that 2012 would be the year that I start www.grief-and-comfort.com.  This website is Non profit and not public - unless a person writes a testimonial, their comments will never be read publicly, for it is email based and does not post on line.  So if you are a reader and not a poster, or just want our conversation to be between us, please come and be our friend and feel free to talk, vent or even ask questions.

I will not leave this support group, I have come to have really good friends here and I love you all.  Just wanted you to know... May you have peace.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
