About Me:
I lost the love of my life after 21 years of marriage. He left me on April 17th, 2016.
About my Loss:
I am so lost w/o him. I took care of him for two years through his illness, I didn't miss a day of work, i kept up with the house and the bills. Now he's gone and I am trying to understand why I have to stay, why didn't I get to go with him???

Shirley, it sounds like my husband died a similar death to yours. Only difference being he died like 8 months after diagnosis. I remember him struggling to breathe...having the oxygen set at max and still not enough. I did take FMLA to take care of him because by the time he was diagnosed he had bone mets all over and they immediately started chemo and radiation...he was barely able to move, much less drive the 25 miles each way daily. I was a nurse and tried everything I could think of to make things work...I don't understand how his diagnosis was missed for so long! When we talked about the inevitable(death) I begged him to take me with, but he told me that I had to stay and spoil the grandchild/ren he would never see...His last full meal with us as a family was to celebrate our 27th anniversary...he was gone 2 weeks later. I think we'll always live with the "what ifs"....

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
