Jennifer, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. You will find the members of this site to be extremely supportive and loving. We are bonded by the loss of loved ones and share the grief we experience day to day. My 33 year old daughter was killed in a tragic accident on Memorial Day of this year and joining this website has allowed me to keep what little sanity I have left. We all grieve differently and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. My personal experience to coping has been to write about what I feel. I share my writings with certain family and friends via myspace. I do this so they can maybe get a sense of why I behave the way I do-I prefer to be alone and rarely participate in social gatherings/events. It is just too painful and confusing right now. Death changes who we are to a certain degree and some more than others.
Take care of yourself and come back as often as you need to. Joining the I love my Dad group is a good thing...do you have any pics of your dad you might want to share with the group?

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
