God, Ron and Me

I wrote this poem about a week ago with help from God.


When I heard about you son
My devestation was immense
How would I ever live without you
The thought was too intense

I remember when I was pregnant
And thrilled but nervous too
I remember every day
Just waiting to meet you

I remember dreaming of the future
What would you grow up to be
If only I could tell you
How very proud you made me

I remember your first step
And even your first word
But I never saw this coming
This nightmare that occurred

The sadness felt by your Mother and Father
Your sister and brother
Your son and
Your daughter

The phrase you always stated
About the seat belt, my son
You know, you will live or die
By not wearing one

Was it testing fate that day
When you climbed into that car
Was there some kind of warning
And you knew you'd be going far

But not to the job site
Nope, not even close
You went directly to heaven
To join the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost

I couldn't believe what I heard
I couldn't understand what they were saying
I was so confused, it was all a blur
But somehow Ron, I knew you weren't staying

I tried to imagine you alone in that car
And how you must have felt so cold
I tried to imagine the people who helped
Who stopped and were so bold

If only you could have known
How much I have cried
If only I could turn back time
You never would have died

But that wasn't to be
And I know that now
It doesn't make it easy
I'm just learning how

My belief in the Lord
Leads me to know
I will join you Ron
I can see where I'll go

To heaven one day
When God says it's my time
But for now I keep you alive
In pictures or in a rhyme

The most important lesson
I want people to know
Please buckle up
Please don't go

And leave your loved ones
With empty promises and dreams
Because they didn't say goodbye
And alone they are it seems

But they really aren't
They really aren't alone
If they follow our Lord
Then they will be shown

The the way to heaven
And God's paradise
Is through Love and Forgiveness
And Jesus Christ.
