Compounded grief with existing anxiety and depression.

During the tragic loss of a loved one or having gone through several tragedies , be it death of a loved one, divorce , personal health issues, or getting older , ect. Sometimes the stress and depression compounded by grief can be debilitating and it may have us feel as if we are mourning our own deaths while we are grieving the loss of our loved ones , We feel as if our own lives are over , Being in this mode can make recovery a longer more confusing process for some. It can be uncomfortable to…See More

Jason M. commented on Julie Dolsey-Weiss's group Orphaned Adults
"Is this group even active? 2012 seems to be the last message. I will be very disappointed if this group is no longer, especially with 71 members."

Profile Information

About Me:
White collar professional with a PhD, 41 years old, male, into sports, essentially an only child, single, never married, no kids, adult orphan, no living immediate or close family members, lacking social support network, my few friends live out of state.
About my Loss:
First, I lost my mom at 8 years old when my mom was only 36. After that, it was me and my dad "against the world." My Dad was first, my father, second my hero, and lastly, my best friend. Recently, December 2019, my Dad died unexpectedly at 74 years old leaving me truly alone with no one in this world. Even though my dad had cancer, I say unexpectedly because his cancer was well managed and getting better, but he died after 3 weeks in the hospital fighting pneumonia. I'm devastated, heart broken, and so alone.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
