About Me:
I am married to a wonderful man named Jon and have 4 great kids. I am 42 years old and am a paralegal for the most wonderful boss on earth. I enjoy spending time with my children, reading, games, crafts, playing with our dogs and have a fascination with of all things, bubbles! Anything else, just ask!
About my Loss:
I lost my father on May 11, 2009. He had a heart transplant in 1995 and had done fantastic from that. In late 2008 he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his blood. He started getting sick in January and having to have weekly blood transfusions, which seemed to really be helping. In April, 2009 he just kept getting very weak and developing many more symptoms than he had before. He was hospitalized several times and in early May he had to be hospitalized again. We thought he had some sort of staph infection but he was not responding to any treatments. His doctors finally told me and our family that there was nothing more they could do to help my dad because the cancer had just gotten too out of hand and was not responding to the treatments any more. He passed away early that morning and I was right beside him holding his hand. I will never forget that day. I am so thankful I was there, but just wish that wasn't my final memory of him. I have always been and always will be a daddy's girl. I miss him so much everyday. About a month before he passed away I made him a Facebook page so I could share pictures with him of our kids while we were at Disney. I still write little notes to him on that page. I am the only "friend" he had so it is completely between me and him. I know it may sound strange, but it just helps me feel a connection with him. I also had a tattoo put on my foot in his memory of 2 little birds on a vine. He so loved feeding these little birds every year - Bluebirds and Gold Finches. The bluebirds always came back each year to build a nest and raise their families. He named them "George & Martha"... and yes, they came back this year so I made sure to put food out for them. He also fed all of the little squirrels every morning, so I go by everyday, spend time with my mom and feed the squirrels too. Little rituals like that have really helped me cope, but man, sometimes it still feels like my heart is breaking. Thanks for reading about my story. My dad was awesome!

"Welcome to the group.  I lost my partner on February 5th this year, so it's still pretty raw for me too.  Reading through your story really touched a chord with me.  Like you, I didn't think I would ever find a group like…"

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
