About Me:
I am 22 (23 Nov 17th) and I live in Topeka, KS with my dad, brother, and sister. I have 3 dogs, bitty, Buddie, and Reese. I love tattoos and have 7! I am hoping to find a job soon but am having trouble in my area. I am joining this website in hopes to get out some of my grief! May god (or a god) bless all of you!!!
About my Loss:
My Mom lived in St. Petersburg Florida. She went into the hospital July 3rd 2009 and was to never make an exit! She was almost immediately put into a drug induced coma and remained there until her demise on August 2nd. July 4th she was given a 20% chance to live... That shocked us but she remained alive and then the doctors told us that she was now given a 50% chance. Yay... Well then it all went down hill... Her fever would not drop and they were keeping her on Ice rather steadily. 3 of her major organs shut down and she was on life support. She had 2 pic lines in her neck and a colostomy bag. The culprit of all this..... Necrotizing Fasciitis.... Or the flesh eating bacteria... It took hold of her life in her groin area. The doctors did somewhere around 6 or 7 surgeries and to no avail... She had 3 open wounds upon her death. 2 in the groin that were larger than a fist and equally as deep and an 11 by 13 inch square on her back that was 5 inches deep. The doctors said that IF she survived that she would need to be in the hospital at least 1 year to help her become well again... After the last surgery which cut the large hole in her back the doctors said she would need 2 more surgeries at least and that they were unsure rather or not that would fix it. That they were worried it would go to her spine and directly to her brain, and that would be unfixable. Her condition continued to decline and we decided at that time that we did not want her to suffer anymore and around noon on July 31st she was taken off her breathing tube and left comfortable. She continued to breathe on her own untill her lungs filled with fluid and she passed around 3 am on August 2nd... Upon entering the hospital her blood sugar was around 940... Yes 940... The day previous when she went to her doctor for help it was 860. She had been told months prior that she may be a pre diabetic and to watch her A1C levels on blood work.... Well pre-diabetic was wrong...she was definatly diabetic!!! Never once even with an insulin drip in the hospital did her blood sugar get below 280... Her blood pressure was too high then way way to low and she had SEVERAL blood transfusion that were unsuccessful. Before her death she was not of the best health. She had been diagnosed and was disabled from Menieres Disease, a condition that is almost the same as vertigo, or dizziness. However hers was un-operable because to fix the problem they would have to take out something in her ear that would make her loose her balance. Which is fine except she has it in both ears. So she would have NO balance, and would be wheelchair bound... We conquered that and she took meds to combat the dizziness. She was also having MAJOR kidney problems, she has had 5 surgeries in the last year and half to remove kidney stones. In which her 4th surgery she died on the operating table and was brought back to life. They had to operate on her kidney stones because they are the kind you cant zap with the laser and she is VERY alergic to the medicine that prevents them... There have been NUMEROUS other medical issues that go along with all this but what I have learned is that No One and I mean No One should ever take their time with their mom (or dad) for granted. You never know what could happen. To make matters worse, when we opted to have an autopsy to get all the reason why she died and all the things that happened we were unaware of they told us no. We could not have an autopsy... Why you ask.... Because she had a HIGHLY contagious flesh eating bacteria that could be spread by being around her... No one would touch her. So we had to cremate my mom with no answers to her death other than the obvious and she was only 46 years old, going to join her mom who passed at 51 from a heart attack in heaven... We miss her SOO SOOO much and wish it was all a nasty dream or a bad joke... If she walked in tomorrow for one minute that would be enough for me! That is all I want..

"Welcome to the group.  I lost my partner on February 5th this year, so it's still pretty raw for me too.  Reading through your story really touched a chord with me.  Like you, I didn't think I would ever find a group like…"

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
