About Me:
55 yr old F, met my husband several years after a horrible divorce. Felt so blessed to have given a second chance at love. I am a teacher. we have 3 grown children, & 3 grandchildren. I thought I would grow old with my husband.
About my Loss:
My husband had a massive heart attack & was gone with in a few hours. No history of heart problems, no symptoms, no warning. He was fine all day, watching football & we cooked out. went to bed that nt, told each other we loved each other. woke at 1:15 he was tossing & turning, asked him if he was ok, he said he was burning up. reached over to touch him, his T shirt was soaked with sweat. I asked if he was in pain, he wouldn't answer me, so i turned on light, went to his side of bed, his eyes were rolled back in his head, kept calling his name, he grabbed my hand & kept squeezing it, like he could hear me but couldn't answer. I called 911 got the para medics on the way. All of a sudden he coughed & came out of it, he only remembered being hot.Told him I had called 911 & they were on the way.He wanted to get up & put some pants on so he went to the bathroom & slipped pajama bottoms on , walked into living room the whole time talking top me, paramedics came ,talked to my husband, hooked him to EKG. said his heart was out of rythm, they needed to take him to ER so they carried him out I threw on clothes, followed them to hospital. when I got there they were wheeling him in the door ,I ran over to be with him & they wouldn't let me see him, told me I had to sit in waiting room untill they came to get me. 25 minutes latter they came & told me he had arrested in the ambulance & they had to shock him back.and since he had been at the hospital he had stopped breathing on his own & they had put a tube in his throat and they were working on getting him to breathe on his own & they would come get me in a few minutes to see him. 10 minutes latter they came back & said he was gone. I never got to say good bye or I love you again. I am devastated & in shock & angry that the hospital did not let me see him.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
