Forgetting
1 Reply

I'm staring to forget my dad's stories! They were so amazing but there is no one left alive to help me remember them. It sucks bc I want my kids to hear the one day. Anyone else have this problem?

About Me:
I'm 30 years old, married with two boys ages 3 and 5. I'm a teacher currently taking time to complete my Masters in Education.
About my Loss:
About three years ago I lost my dad suddenly. He was 72 and his health was deteriorating rapidly. Because of Hurricane Katrina, I was laid off from my job as a social worker and I was very pregnant with my first child. My father opened his small business to me and I was blessed with the opportunity to really understand and grow a meaningful relationship with him for the first time in my life. I just fell in love with him and never dreamed that wonderful time would be so tragically cut short. I worked for him for three years when he suffered a heart attack during s scheduled appointment with his cardiologist. I had just come back to work after being on maternity leave for my second child. We had lunch together the both left in opposite directions. A few hours later, his cardiologist called me to tell me my dad had suffered a heart attack and still being worked on. I turned around from Baton Rouge and headed to New Orleans. I wasn't half way there when they called me to tell me he didn't make it. My world fell apart for about a year when I started seeing a counselor. My doctor is helpful, but sometimes once a month isnt enough.

"Welcome to the group.  I lost my partner on February 5th this year, so it's still pretty raw for me too.  Reading through your story really touched a chord with me.  Like you, I didn't think I would ever find a group like…"

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More
