Profile Information

About Me:
I am a graduate student, receiving my Master's degree as an LPC with a specialty in Trauma. My reason for choosing this was my own journey through PTSD when my husband passed away eleven years ago on Mother's Day. I had a miscarriage of our 6th child (all ended in miscarriages) two weeks later.
About my Loss:
I married a nice man sometime after. Due to the people he worked with getting involved in our marriage, we separated and divorced. In the process, he was diagnosed with liver cancer from Hepatitis B. He died this May 13th, also Mother's Day. I now am terrified of Mother's Day. (I know that is hypervigilance, a symptom of PTSD). I am trying not to allow myself to become vulnerable to another setback. If I were a client of mine, I would probably diagnose this as Acute Stress due to loss and other extenuating circumstances
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
I am a counseling student intern in need of help.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
