About Me:
I suffered a very traumatic loss in January. I'm having a very difficult time dealing with it, and hope that others out there who have dealt with something similar can help.
About my Loss:
My mother and brother were murdered in January of this year. I lived with them and spent the night at my boyfriend's house. The next day walked in with my 4 year old daughter in my arms and found them both shot in the head. My mother was my best friend in the world. We lived together and worked together. Since she was a single mom and I was the oldest we were basically a team. She was helping me raise my daughter after my divorce and was my biggest support system. She was only 49 years old, and my brother was just 22. Me and my brother were very close as well. I was 7 years older than him and had a hand in raising him. He was a college student and worked part time to help support his family. I also lost my father due to brain cancer this year. He was diagnosed a month after the murders. We were estranged for years but re-connected after the murders. He recently passed away in July.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
