About Me:
I am 27 years old and lost my child a little over a month ago. I am a teacher, so i have not been able to go back to work. Every day is a struggle. Some days I feel like I'm ready to go back to work and then I have a break down. I am seeing a therapist and that helps a little but as the days go by, it seems to be getting more difficult rather than easier.
About my Loss:
My daughter was 4 years old. She tested positive for strep and was given antibiotics. Within less than 24 hours of that diagnosis, she started with high fevers. We took her to the emergency room where she started seizing. The doctor believed that there was something wrong with her brain so she was transported to another hospital. They notified us that she also had the flu but never had any symptoms. That all happened on a Friday....by Saturday doctors were saying her brain was only swelling more. They did neuro exams and she no longer had any brain function. Her organs were failing so my husband and I decided to disconnect her on Sunday. Everything happened so quick so when I finally asked what exactly caused this to happen, the doctors told me the flu attacked her body and with the other infection she had, her little body could not fight it. My baby passed away in my arms. It was the most difficult thing I've ever experienced in my life. She was so full of life and healthy! I still can't forgive myself for failing as a mother.
