Let me be sad,
Don't try to change the subject,

Comfort would be nice,
but don't try to change the subject.

My tears are warm and soothing and healing.
What a relief! it is to cry
without judgement or intervening

but some comfort, from a world that ignores sadness and suffering,
would be really nice.

love the poem and i can definately identify...hope you find comfort in letting yourself feel the pain that you are experiencing. I can't tell you how many times after my mom died that others, including my own family members, would switch the subject or gloss over the loss by simple statements like "everything will get better" instead of just listening to me, giving me a shoulder to cry on, and supporting me. There were many times that the responses of others rubbed me the wrong way until I realized that they didn't know the first thing about how to support or help me in this process, although in their own way they were trying to help.
