About my Loss:
My baby sister was a blessing to me. She was strong, beautiful and courageous. Aleshia fought her entire life to be here with us. She was born with a heart defect which lead to several heart surgeries and at the age of 5, she had a heart transplant. She was a miracle sent here from God. A true blessing. Her death is ironic to me. You see, it wasnt her heart that caused her death but a rare blood clotting disorder. The doctors are unsure exactly what caused her body to react that way. I'm not sure if we will ever know what truly caused her death. At the age of 22, she went to be with Jesus. Aleshia's life was short here on earth but her story will live on forever. I will always share my love for my sweet baby sister. She was one of a kind and I miss her everyday of my life. Some people say there are angels here on earth. I believe God sent her to our family to show us what life is all about. She is my inspiration. Everything that I know and do is because of her. Although, my life will never be the same, I know she is now my guardian angel in heaven. Until we meet again sissy. I'm proud of you. You are the strongest girl I know! Sensory overload (Remembering you)

God has you in his arms....I have you in my heart <3

Last night was the first time I slept decent since you passed. I haven't been able to sleep because my brain replays the morning of your death over and over. Every detail of that morning remains tattooed on my brain. The smell, sound, taste, down to every detail of you and everyone in your room. I cant…

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
