"It is a blessing to be able to be acknowledged by the family in your grief. Though that won’t necessarily make the grief any easier. Sending you strength and peace."

"Thank you… the services are going to be rough… she’s going to put on a show for sure… she paid $850.00 for the obituary complete with a professional color family picture."

So Blessed!

I lost my soulmate, the man I should have met years to a long battle with COVID pneumonia. He was married, but his wife took their then 12 year old daughter and moved across the state line 2 months before we met, 14 months ago. After realizing we were meant for each other we decided to keep our relationship from his wife for the sake of his daughter until she was older and could accept the change. Everything was fine until he texted and told me his COVID was getting worse and he was going to…See More

Being the Other Woman/Other Man

This is for anyone who has lost their lover to death and you were the other woman/other man in their life. We have to grieve in silence. I can't find any support groups and feel like I'm the only one going through this situationSee More

Profile Information

About Me:
I’m in my late 40’s divorced woman.
About my Loss:
I am losing my best friend and fiancé(we discussed marriage when his teenage daughter got older (she is 13 years old). He and his wife have been separated for a year, but she wouldn’t let him free because she needed/wanted his money. She moved out of the house. He’s currently in the hospital on a ventilator (3 weeks yesterday) because of COVID pneumonia and now he was diagnosed with fibrosis. I got in contact with his siblings and told them about us and they are thrilled he found someone who makes him happy. They are super supportive and have kept me in the loop, including giving me the ICU nurse’s number to FaceTime him last Sunday. I don’t know if I should tell his wife and hopefully she leaves the finial decisions to his siblings or if I should keep quiet and grieve as a “friend”.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
