About Me:
I am a 51 year mother of 2 sons, age 18 and 29. I have been married for 31 years. We live in a small town I have chronic health problems.
About my Loss:
My mother died of cancer in 1970. April 4th, Easter Sunday will mark 40 years since she die. I was 11. The word cancer was never mentioned. When she died I was told not to cry that I was just feeling sorry for myself. I have never learned to grieve. I wake up in the middle of the night and feel like I am going to suffocate.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
