About Me:
I'm a 40 year old widow and a mother to an amazing 19 year old son who is a full time college student. I worked in Public Relations for 13 years when I decided it was time for a change to make a difference, so I quit my job and went to work at a non-profit helping others and doing exactly that.
About my Loss:
I lost my husband and best friend on August 9, 2013. He suffered a massive stroke he never recovered from, but he lived long enough to turn 40 before he died the next day after his birthday. Today is August 23, 2013 and it is our 8th year wedding anniversary and I find myself struggling. The love of my life is gone and I'm still here. Looking for comfort, friends, to connect with others who share the same grief and built ever lasting friendships.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
