I am so upset. My nephew passed away suddenly in November of last year. He has older children from his first marriage and I'm very close to them. He was still married to his second wife at the time of his death. The children he had with her are really young and their mother is trying keep them from seeing their step sisters. The older children want to stay in the little ones' life. But my sister who is the grandmother and his second wife are intent on keeping them apart. Plus they are mistreating the older ones. They won't let the the older ones get any of their things from their father's house. They used to live there too. One of them just called me and told me their dad's house has been trashed. My sister and her husband (their step grandfather) moved the little kids and the second wife to a new house and trashed the one they moved them from. They left precious things behind that older kids really wanted but they wouldn't let them get the stuff. The his older daughter had to crawl into the house through a window. The house is being foreclosed so they were going to let all the older kids stuff and some their dad's stuff that they want get thrown away. There is so many other terrible things that their doing to the older kids. I don't want to get in the middle but I'm so sad for the older and the younger kids. I can't believe my sister is doing some of the things she is doing. The second wife is being so mean to the older kids. I need to stay out of it but it's hard. I don't like seeing children put in the middle and hurt. Any suggestions? I'm praying for all involved.

Assumptions

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
