I attended the first in 13 sessions tonight with a group of people from all walks of life. The meeting was very therapeutic. Of course when they had us introduce ourselves and talk about our losses, I broke down when I talked about losing my mom three days after Mother's Day. But it felt good to be part of a group where others understand your feelings and the trauma that you experienced. There were quite a few tears shed among the group but I'm happy that I was able to find a group close to home (actually my church organized it). The group focuses on going from mourning to joy. I'm not sure if I will ever get to joy, but I am going to keep an open mind about it and see how it goes.

wish  there's such a 'counseling session ' here in Phil. for it,s unusual to go to a psych even...yup, people who didn't experience the same things might try to comfort you in a not so typical way..spoken words means a lot. Lost mom last 3 yrs ago..father's day..and d/t tragedy...still in the moving on stage i guess...joy...what goal..hoping i'll reach that point even before seeing mom again..

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More
