On September 6, 2016 my sister made the choice to take her 11 month old son off of life support. He sustained a TBI on the 5th while in the care of a babysitter. We were told originally that it was an accident, and we did our best to cope with that.

On Halloween the Detective handling the case informed us that it was not an accident. That she had done this to him on purpose. That she had slammed his sweet little 30 pound self to the ground to make him stop crying. He said that he was most likely crying because he had sustained 3 other head injuries prior to the final one. The ME told us that it was instant and he never felt the final blow, but that doesn't keep the terrifying thoughts away. Was he scared? Did he know she was hurting him? Why couldn't she just walk away.

The hardest part is she gets to enjoy her Christmas. The State's Attorney, ME, and Detective will meet on January 5, 2017 to decide what they will charge her with, and we will be notified of her pending arrest. I want her in jail right now. She shouldn't get to enjoy her holidays.

I just don't know how my family is supposed to come back from this. It was already hard enough losing him, and now this. It all such a mess.

Nothing I could say would really help, but I am SO sorry. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Thank you <3

I am so sorry for your unspeakable loss.

The only Hope I have comes from my faith in the Bible.

There are actually 8 accounts where someone who had died was brought back to life. 3 Children are among those accounts.

I believe that the same thing will happen in the future right here on earth....in paradise.

This doesn't take our pain away but it gives me something to look forward to

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world.That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
