Kira, thought your message about having an out of the body experience was interesting...my uncle when he was very young had that experience while sick, he was near the ceiling floating...he only told my mom who kept in confidence for years...(he recently passed so I think he is okay with this)...

I have come to believe that there are many experiences not written in the bible -- it is not a book of everything all knowable or to be experienced rather an overview of guidance -- a collection of writings that point to a Creator. I have found this name of God to be interest, E'in Sof means Endless or Infinite...

...our pastor gave a sermon from the Old Testament today...about the Isrealites in the desert who were guided by a pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night...and that most of that generation perished before entering the Holy Land...I wondered, if those people died, who would they be looking for? What were their expectations? I have read about fundamental Christians whose faith was shaken after a Near Death experience because it wasn't what they expected to find...since matter is interchangable with energy (quantem mechanics) many will be surprised that their consciousness goes on, and that it is not rooted in the brain...nor is the life that continues what they expected perhaps...

Not to say that this makes things much better in a sense, or will necessarily give one a shortcut through grief...(Even Jacob thought he would grieve his son Joseph until the day he died had Joseph not been found) Ruth's mother-in-law, Naomi wanted to change her name to Mara which means bitterness...sometimes I wonder if the bible was read as if you were a real person living then experiencing these events, how would it change? for me I have seen there is an overall theme (when used appropriately, not to leverage power, but to come and serve others in love) that has had the power to change many for the good...

Personally, I felt very under prepared by clergy and others who pose as "experts", as to the realities of death...

....I have found much more practicality in reading deathbed visions, near death experiences and other experiences of spirit...and that these matters are sacred in the heart...

It is interesting to note that many NDErs say that other reality past the body's death is "REALER than real"...

Just my thoughts...

Hi Laurie!

I'm also very much interested in NDE stories. Recently I found quite interesting ones, for example that one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTcHWz6UMZ8&feature=share

If you're interested, the woman claims she left her physical body right after she died. So while she was out of her body she saw her family in a hospital's cafe. And she heard her dad telling her mother and grandmother that he needs to go out for a smoke. Then her grandmother that never smoked before said 'Oh me too, I need a cigarette now...' When Michaela came back to her physical body and started recovering, she told about her experience to her family.

The conversation was real. Her grandmother indeed asked for a cigarette.

I didn't have an NDE, but I came out of my body several times at night. I would not just float, I would spin and somersault in the air. I confirm your line 'realer than real'. It was as real as reality only can be. I was still being me, but I was moving in different way, I was moving like a pure energy and at the same time I still had my consciousness and realised everything that was happening.

And I also heard a story from a real person, not from the internet. Once a plumber was working at my home, he claimed his sister left her physical body while being dead. She was lifting up higher and higher untill she heard someone's voice 'Don't be afraid'. But it wasn't her time to die.

Robert Monroe writes a lot more about that. He also mentions his meetings with deceased people in heaven. It might be really interesting for anyone who lost their relatives.

OK :)

A few years back, I personally also talked to a man who had an NDE...he said he did not want to come back...

Then my daughter the other day met a woman who had an NDE...

From my experience, especially over the last two years, confirm this type of research being done (consciousness not being in the brain, rather it is a vehicle for it.) . I am very analytical by nature, and after the death of my son, I am not just content to sit back...my small box of theological views blew up entirely, however, if one is closed to such things, it is very difficult to see.

You're very right. To discover more you have to have an open mind. Have to be a scientist.

I think that consciousness is magnetic. It explains why the deceased people are able to communicate via electricity and still are able to think. Magnetic field is able to create little electric impulses.

Monroe claimed that consciousness is electromagnetic, but that kind of electromagnetic wave is not yet discovered by scientists.

I'd say brain is not just a vehicle, but it's a tool that helps to grow the consciousness. Our Creator is really clever. Everything is being created with a tool.

Thanks Laurie, I have another interesting video here. A man died but didn't even notice that. While dying he started falling down on his knees but instead went floating.

All of that is "truth", in your opinion. Some people share your opinion, others don't. Christianity is not the only path, or the only "right" path.

All you say is true. It's also true the way I see, that Christ's sacrifice paid for everyone. We human's may settle for getting a portion of what we pay for but not the creator. Our will cannot overcome His will no matter how much or how long we try. How exactly He accomplishes this is unfolding while we speak. Does in adam all die and through Christ all are made alive mean the same all. I think it must because everyone is dead til made alive in Christ. Again His timing. But there is a lot of mistranslation from original documents.

Why are there 20 or so thousand denominations of so called christanity if we all believe the same basic thing?

Zell, you sure have strong faith never doubt it. Mine is very weak but I try to accept the portion I have and hope that it will get stronger everyday. Feelings are a tricky thing but the story goes that it's all done already or something like that. Tiny hope is better than none.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
