Dennis,

Yes, of course I know evolution is fact (I don't say that I "believe" in evolution, because evolution is not open to opinion or belief, aside from small quibbles about the paths it may have taken -- it is simply a fact).

As for how evolution and the afterlife (assuming an afterlife exists) might be connected, I don't know. Assuming that there is an afterlife, and assuming that there is a "beforelife" -- that is, assuming that our souls existed before we were born into this earthly life, and that they will continue to exist after we die in this earthly life -- then possibly reincarnation exists and we each lived a multitude of lives as bugs, reptiles, other mammals, etc., before being born as humans. Or perhaps the souls of animals are a bit different from ours, and those who are human now were never born as animals before. Or perhaps animals don't have souls (though I don't believe that is the case at all). As with everything else related to the afterlife or god or the like, I don't know -- I am agnostic.

There might be an afterlife, or there might not. There might be a god, or there might not. In any case, we don't need one in order to have the other.

Bluebird,

I have read some books on evolution (Richard Dawkins) and have found no FACTS presented. So for my edification, and I mean this with all sincerity, could you please present a few facts that prove evolution.

Sorry, but no -- I simply don't have the energy or inclination to find a bunch of scientific sites and link to them. I barely have the energy to feed and shower myself. And to be honest, it doesn't matter to me whether you (or anyone else) understand or "believes in" evolution. If you don't want to, that's fine with me. I don't mean to be rude, I just don't actually care. The only reason I'm even talking about evolution at all is because you asked me a question about it and the afterlife.

Didn't mean to be a bother. Don't worry about it PLEASE!!

And you don't need to respond to the following.

I have asked several atheist, evolutionists, the same question, and basically I get nothing.

They are all quick to tell me how stupid I am for believing in a creator, but they can't or won't help me by giving me facts.

I have read and studied looking for the FACTS that you all say are there but can't find them. What I do find is contradictory, inconsistent, and full of gaps that I cant reconcile in my own mind.

What I do find is records of bones that they claim prove something, but all those bones really prove is that an animal lived and died. There are no fossils in transition, morphing, evolving, etc. only whole skeletal remains of an animal that lived and died.

No missing link fossil exist....and there are many, Many, MANY missing links that need to be found.

Oh well.

Sorry Bluebird for the rant. It's not at you. Please know that I feel very bad about the pain you suffer. I really do.

No need to apologize -- it was a reasonable question, I'm just not up to researching and finding the sources to answer it properly.  There are legitimate sources & answers, but I don't have them handy or bookmarked. One thing, though -- evolution in action is not and cannot be visible in the body of any one animal, it is only observable by studying a population over time, so you wouldn't see evidence of it in the bones of any one individual animal. And the gaps are definitely there, in the fossil record; scientists don't claim otherwise, but there is still much more than enough evidence to demonstrate evolution.

Incidentally -- while I know that evolution is fact, that doesn't mean that evolution and some sort of creator/god are mutually exclusive. Since my husband's death I am agnostic verging on atheist, but in the past it has always been my position that it's absolutely possible that there is a god/creator who set things in motion via evolution. I still think that is one of the possibilities. I'm sure I am not the only person who feels that way.

I know you're not ranting at me, but thank you. And I'm sorry if I was rude to you.

It seems that if a person is grieving and no solution  can be offered except religious comfort. If a grieving person is not religous or dont have children , they are SOL. I think its possible to believe in a creator, but an afterlife is much harder to believe. We might exist in some life forms, but we wont have the same memories or identity , I wish to believe otherwise, but theres really no reason to blieve in an y of those things other than blind faith. Oh and my m other died from lung cancer and she never smoked. I think life is a cruel joke for many people.  I dont get it.  If ther eis an afterlife and if this life is some sort of a trick aor an illusion to the real thing, I will be plesantly suprised. I just want to die  without suffering and pain, i want to take a lethal dose and passed away.

Sorry to interrupt, but Robert Monroe said that human being appeared on Earth in the present form. Which means we're not coming from the monkeys. Human being has always been having the present form.

At least that's what his angels told him.

I agree with you Dennis, there's no any proof of the form transition found.

He is incorrect.  And evolution doesn't state that "we come from monkeys", it states that over millions of years, we evolved from earlier forms of primates.

I cannot believe that in 2014 there are still people who disbelieve evolution. Wow.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
