About Me:
Im a 43 year old mother of 17 year old daughter & 20 year old son. My husband & I have been married for 23 years. We had a wonderful family, very close knit, we did everything together. We had ups & downs with our kids as every parent does but they were our world.
About my Loss:
6/22/2014 my 17 year old daughter was killed by a drunk driver, exactly week later my 20 year old son was leaving a memorial service for his sister on an ATV, we were following him when a deer ran directly into him & knocked him off, he died 7/5/2014 from traumatic brain injury, we buried him 7/9/14 he would've turned 21 on 7/10/14...Bri would have been 18 on 7/11/14

My Dear freind,

I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words that I can say that will make this any better.  Please know that I am with you in this HORRIBLE journey that we must endure.  I to lost my daughter, my only child by a hit and run driver.  It has been 4 months and I still can't beleive it.  Everyone tells me it will get easier but it seems to only get harder.  I'm not married and her father was not part of our lives.  So, I'm dealing with this on my own.  She was everything to me.  All I had.  This website has helped me feel not so alone.  Please know I send you tight hugs and my prayers.  It's taken me a long time to begin praying again.  Anyhow, all my love, Rachel

They weren't my children yet I am devastated . . . As Adrianne said there are no words . . . and as Dolly said, "I am speechless". Something I read may bring you comfort: "Jesus knew that he was going to resurrect Lazarus. Still, he gave way to tears, moved by his deep love and compassion for his friends. Likewise, our empathy may move us to “weep with people who weep.” (Rom. 12:15) Expressing such grief is appropriate. Jesus set an example of showing sympathy for the bereaved by sincerely shedding tears even though he was about to raise Lazarus." Jesus knows what it feels like, as a human, to lose a loved one in death.

(John 5:25-29) . . .“Most truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have paid attention will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to do judging, because he is the Son of man. Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice  and come out. . ."

Oh I am so sorry for the loss of both of your children. I lost my only child in a tragic car accident almost 2 years ago and I can only hope and pray you can find some hope and comfort on this site.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
