It's all okay now

2 weeks ago today you left this Earth to begin your pain free journey with Jesus. I'm forever grateful to be one of your granddaughters, to have been loved endlessly by you. I miss so many things. I miss your smell, the way you looked at nanny, the way you would light up when I walked into the house, our texts with your emojis; and so much more. It feels like it was 10 minutes ago that I checked for a pulse knowing in my head that there wouldn't be one because you had taken your last breath…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
Hi there. I'm 28, happily married, born & raised in the Midwest. I am a hospice nurse PRN and do health insurance verification for an internal med office. I have 1 dog and 2 cats, no human kids; yet! I love being outdoors, drinking coffee, family time, painting and listening to music; I also love writing.
About my Loss:
My maternal grandfather passed away on 11/9/21. He and my grandmother (still living) are my best friends. I was with him as well as family at the time of him passing. I was the one who noticed he had stopped breathing and checked for a pulse, hoping there would be one; but knowing there wouldn't be. I am heartbroken and have no idea how to handle this and need all the support I can get.
Are You a Service Provider? If Yes, please tell us about your service.
Yes. I have been a hospice nurse since 2016. I now do that PRN and work in medical office. I was, however, my grandfather's primary caregiver for the last 2 months of his life.

Death bureaucracy

When my father died - he was a victim of a violent crime - me and my family went through hell. But, from all the bad things, the memories from the funeral arrangements still linger in my thoughts. The bureaucracies: my father's siblings discussing if he should be buried with their parents, the "open coffin" decisions...etc.I'm not sure if I resent any of the options we made, but it's only me that comes back to these death bureaucracies? Does anyone also have similar experiences? It seems so…See More

Sanju Rao commented on Gale Brunault's group Loss of an Only Child
"Is there an online support group for survivors of the loss of an only child which meets on a weekly or monthly basis? My Aunt and Uncle have lost their only child - a 19 year-old son - and they are in such pain... we need help"
