Profile Information

About Me:
I am the oldest of three siblings. My brother, Richard died in 1978 at the age of 15. My sister, Kelley died in 1984 at the age of 17. Both had congenital heart disorders. I was tested after my sister died, and I have a healthy heart.
About my Loss:
I have never been the same since my brother and sister died. My brother died when I was 16 and my sister died 6 years later when I was 23 (three weeks before my wedding). Because their heart disorders are hereditary, I chose not to have children as I could pass the disorder on to them. There is not a day that goes by that I don't miss them.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
