About Me:
A single mother with a 16 year old daughter, just laid off from my job, company cutbacks.
About my Loss:
On June 12th 2017, I lost my mother at the neighborhood pool. We went to enjoy the day at the pool since I was laid off. She and I were planning a nice day together. Then what happened next was tragic. She went in the water to cool off she was in the shallow water on a floating noodle under her arms and she was floating in the water. I turned my back and was talking with a friend. About 5 minutes later I turned around and she was face forward in the water. I ran over to her and called for help and the lifeguards and even some nurses at the pool began CPR. Quickly the ambulance and police came. I watched her die. I felt so helpless. The autopsy and doctor said she had a massive heart attack and died with no pain. My mother had just turned 71 years old. She leaving behind a husband, a daughter(me) a son, and my daughter her only granddaughter.

I miss my mother

It has been almost 5 months since my mother has pasted. I miss her so much!!! I cry everyday! My mother died very suddenly, I did not get to say goodbye. I had been laid off from my job, due to cutbacks on a Friday in the beginning of summer. The Monday after my mother and I were going to a pool that I had just joined, having a nice day planned because all I did was work being a single mother. When we got to the pool we ran into some friends. My mother went into the pool to float on a noodle. I… Continue

Jennifer, I'm very sorry you lost your mom. I hope you find some comfort from this site. I lost my mom on May 17, 2017. I felt very helpless too. I thought she was going to make it, but she made a rapid decline in the hospital and I feel lost without her. She was 79.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
