Not that it matters, but for the record, she was a non-smoker and nobody in my family smoked. My parents were married for 60 years, I always say that this diagnosis blew my fathers mind. He had a stroke about two weeks later. My father died on March 1, 2008, and my mom three months later, in June of 2008. I didn’t know…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
I am an actor and Stand up comedian living in New York City.
About my Loss:
My father died in March 2008, and my mother died in June of that same year. 18 months later, January 2010, my best friend of 32 years took her own life by laying down in traffic on the parkway. Almost exactly a year after that, my sister was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She lived for an agonizing, additional year. She passed away in September, of 2012. Labor Day weekend I believe.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
