I think that's one of the things that I miss the most. My husband and I loved to hold hands. From the walking stick, to the walker, to the wheelchair, he still would find a way to hold my hand. Even as he died.

We were planning an Alaskan cruise next year for our 20th anniversary. We bought matching coats and had picked out so many things. Now nothing to look forward to or plan. I dont want to go anywhere without him. Going all the places we used to go is hard enough without thinking about all the plans we had. So NOT right or fair.

George and m morgan- thank you for those beautiful poems. I especially like the message in yours m morgan. And George- Hold on to that dog and just let it happen. There's no set rules on this mourning business. You just lost your soulmate and if you don't have it in you to get up and go out somewhere or try and accomplish things- then you don't have to George. My gosh – you justblost Mary in February. And I'm right there with you. When I'm not working, most often, I'm sitting in front of the stupid TV and crying. So- in my humble opinion – we are all doing the best we can within the horrendous circumstances we have been presented with at this point in time.

Both poems touched me deeply. I know he is there and I can see things he is subtly doing. Just miss him so much my heart aches and the pain is just awful.

Why are we all in this horrible boat together???

ok i see from trying it my link dos not work.  Here is the poem with thanks to its author.

                                      Ascension

And if I go,
while you're still here...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
--behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
--both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there.

George, The poem posted on Facebook was very touching.  Here is a link to a poem my best girlfriend from high school sent me when my husband died.  I've pretty much built a shrine around a framed copy of it.  Hoping it helps you or anyone else.   It is called "Ascension".

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
