Connie did you check out the website Alivealone?  I am going to the conference in July with another woman I met who lost her only child (a son).  Didn't know if you were interested/able to attend; it's in Connecticut on July 24, 25, and 26.

Hope you are doing well - hugs to you

I too love the Healing After Loss book by Martha Whitmore Hickman and I read Proof of Heaven, which was fantastic.  There is another book called Losing Your Only by Dr. Debi Yohn.  She writes from personal experience when she lost her only child (a son) in a car accident.  It's short and easy to read.

Rj I will look into getting that book - my therapist let me borrow "I wasn't ready to Say Goodbye", which was good in certain areas though it didn't have much on losing an only.  I think we should all collaborate and write a book!  Now that would keep us all busy.

Rj thanks for the book mention. I will check it out. It sounds familiar. I read a lot and find comfort in the ways others have survived this. I love Healing from Loss by Martha Whitaker. I would highly recommend Proof of Heaven by Ethen Alexander.

Yes Vasanthi, I talk to my Daniel all the time and ask for help when I need it. He always answers....what a strong magical, beautiful spirit he has. But oh how i long to hold him in my arms and hear his contagious laughter. Vasanthi are you back in the US now?

I just purchased a book called a season of grief by ann Dawson. It has good reviews and she lost her 18 year old son so can relate more to what we are dealing with. Much love to all

Love the pictures - it's so nice to see those smiling faces.  There's no doubt our children loved life.  We are blessed beyond words to have the honor of raising such talented, loving and kind children.

Love the pics. Such lovely , vibrant children. Do keep in mind that it is only the body which goes and not what is really the 'self'.We suffer so much because for us there is no reaching out anymore except in moments of peace and quiet in the depths of our hearts. Love to you all.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
