I lost my dad almost a year and half ago. He went to heaven after fighting kidney failure for about a year. It seems like some days are tougher than others. It still seems like he is just "on vacation" some times and that he will call soon. I am getting married next month and am struggling with his absence. Is there ways to make this easier? Any tips? I still find myself crying at random when I think that he won't be there and he is actually" gone" from this world. I find myself thinking about the times we spent together and how I feel like it has made me pretty bitter.

Thanks for reading

Yes Sarah it is almost like a parent is on vacation sometimes and maybe it helps a bit to think this way, just to absorb the shock. Tips ? The only thing I can suggest if possible is to postpone any major plans for at least two years so like 6 months more in your case. Its not advisable to do anything major for 2-3 years following a major shock. I myself am doing a life review of Dad and that is more important than anything else. Went to his former office, etc.
Thank you for your comment Danny! It is very tough making big decisions. :)

welcome !  was hoping you would not be offended but yes am trying myself to postpone big decisions if i can.

Sibling Loss

This group is for anyone that has lost a brother or sister. Sibling loss is often minimized and people don't realize how devastating losing a sibling can be. I lost my older sister and my life will never be the same. She was my only sibling, I looked up to her, I went to her for everything. I lost my past, present and future. It is traumatic.See More

Triggers Continue to Surface

Late February is a challenging time of year for me.  Jen’s birthday is the 23rd and serves as an annual reminder of all of the potential that was lost…Her’s (mainly), mine, the world’s honestly.  This year she would be 52…It is increasingly hard to imagine, through all of the iterations possible, what she could have become, what was to be her (significant) impact on the world. That being said, things, emotions, have largely settled down since I committed a potential version of what could have…See More
