Jo B - was this the only group you invited me to, or was there another one?  My brain is fuzzy with depression, but for some reason I'm feeling like there was another one you recommended to me as well - something about pictures, posting pictures.  Can you tell me the name of that one again if I don't find it before I hear from you?  Thanks,

Jo B - thank you for inviting me to be on this group.  I guess I'm finally ready to come back to the groups and start talking again.

I have a dream catcher in my car, but I guess I need to put the one that used to be over my bed over my bed again.  I took it down when my husband moved it and it has been on a shelf for ten years now.  I guess I should put it back up.

What do you think your dream about your Dad meant?

I've had a lot of dreams since my parents died.  When my Mom first died, my Mom came to me the next night and was wearing the blue and white gingham dress she was wearing when she went to the hospital the last time but it was clean instead of having throw up on it like it had when she got to the hospital.  And, her stomach had been all swollen when she went to the hospital and it was small again.  She was laying on the blue couch we had as kids.  She sat up and looked at me and said, "I'm feeling much better now."  She had suffered a lot at the end, so I guess she wanted me to know that she was okay.

It's funny.  I needed that dream but I'm not sure how she knew it as at first i was so numb that I could barely show my emotions.  The next day I was on my bed hitting my pillow and screaming, but that was about the only emotion I showed until I went to a grief support group a few months later and then in front of all of those people it all just flew out of me and I fell apart and started screaming and crying.  But, still, somehow she knew I needed her to tell me she was alright.

Since she has died I've had a few more dreams that I don't understand.  In those dreams I will be following her begging her to take her medicine and being surprised that she is still alive since the doctors told her she would die.  I've had that one a few times.  I'll be following her begging her to take her medicine and she is walking in front of me ignoring me.  And, a few times I've taken her to the doctor in those dreams and the doctors are telling me that she doesn't have cancer any more.

One time I had a dream that she was like at work or something - doing something to machines but I'm not sure why (I hope she was sewing as she loved to do that in life).  And, i was watching her work but she didn't see too aware of me or maybe she was ignoring me - maybe she is upset with me or something.  I don't know.

One other time I had a dream that she and I were out having a good time and shopping and stuff like we used to and we made plans to go out again on Saturday morning.  When I woke up I was so excited cuz we were going to hang out again and then I realized it was a dream and she was gone and I started crying and was grieving as bad as I was when she had first died.

I haven't had a lot of dreams about my dad though - if any.  I can't remember any if I have, but with my foggy head these days I could be forgetting.  Mostly my Dad has reached out to me with electronics, which makes sense cuz he was very very good with mechanical things.  That is more his style.  Plus, he called me on the phone a lot, especially the last few years he was alive.
