We are 4 months after the sudden loss of our only child in a car accident and intimacy seems so difficult now so hard to the detriment of our relationship has anyone had similar experience and any advice how to cope.

thank you so much for your reply.  at the moment we are going to a grief counselor and between me and my husband we talk about our needs and we are really working on it.  We were warned by our counselor about the risk of breaking up so its on my mind at least all the time.  I went for the first time to her room on our kibbutz yesterday and it was the second hardest thing I have don e in my life the first her funeral.  I dont know what loss you have had but does the chronic pain and yearning ever go away.  Its only been 5 months since she was killed (by a driver who lost control) so its all very raw.  Thank you again  Julia

what a terrible story.  I am so sorry and I really have taken your advice to heart ... I also take anti-depressant and anxiety medication daily otherwise I think I would stick my head in the oven (which I dont have actually ... an oven that is!)  Isnt life unfair and the whys ifs and buts keep raising their heads all the time and send a chill down my spine.  I shall keep in mind your advice and if the situation needs I will turn to a professional.  I wish someone who has also lost an only child would get in touch as well as you.  It really is amazing that you have answered and I feel I do have someone to share this with.  Thank you again.

Assumptions

An assumption is an unexamined belief: what is thought to be true without ever really realizing that we think in that way. For better or worse, understanding starts with entertaining the idea that something is true.  Truly profound thoughts generally come to light from the relaxation of these (flawed) assumptions.  This is where I find myself today...Perhaps, one of the more significant drivers to pushing down the loss and grief at the time of the accident, ignoring it and mindlessly walking…See More
